The Florida Memory Project

The State Library and Archives of Florida sponsors a great website chronicling significant events in Florida history. Educational resources are available as well as collections for historical research. The Project utilizes selected original records, photographs and other materials from the State Library's collection. Funding is provided under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and is administered by the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services. One can explore many photographic collections including the currently featured “Common Ground”: A Global Celebration of Historic Photographs-a slideshow of historic photos from around the world. The Highlights of Florida History section provides images of historically important documents that helped to shape the state. This section is divided into different time periods from the first Spanish to present times. Different collections are featured on the website and include wonderful resources from the Florida Folklife Collection to Filming Florida: Images of the Sunshine State.
